Sports leadership
Parkwood students take on sports leadership!
Tuesday 17th January eight students visited the English Institute of sport to take part in the sports leadership programme where they were joined by other schools in leading sporting activities for younger children, but not before having a go at the games they helped run.
Sports Leadership is a sports qualification where students will develop life skills such as effective communication and organisation whilst learning to lead basic physical activities to younger people, their peers, older generations and within the community.
The courses involve both guided & peer-to-peer learning and supervised leadership to ensure that learners have all the skills they need to lead basic physical activities to other people.
They will earn badges based upon how many volunteering hours they do, for example, if they complete 15 hours they will achieve the bronze badge.
