Appointment of new Headteacher

As you will know, Gemma Cottingham, Headteacher will be leaving E-ACT Parkwood Academy at the end of the academic year following her successful appointment as Headteacher at E-ACT Royton and Crompton Academy in Oldham. We are delighted to be retaining Ms. Cottingham within E-ACT and know that she will be a great success across the Pennines in Greater Manchester.

Following a rigorous selection process, I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Mr. Joel Hinchliffe as the new Headteacher of E-ACT Parkwood Academy. Mr. Hinchliffe is currently the Deputy Headteacher at Newsome Academy where he has played an integral part in moving the school from Inadequate to Good overall, and indeed Outstanding in the areas where Mr. Hinchliffe has been directly responsible.

In addition to Mr. Hinchliffe’s appointment, I am also delighted to announce that Mrs. Andrea Atkinson has been appointed at Executive Headteacher, and will oversee our E-ACTs northern cluster of secondary academies. I have every confidence that Mr. Hinchliffe and Mrs. Atkinson will drive Parkwood Academy forward, building on the excellent work started by Ms. Cottingham.

As we gear up for the new academic year Mr. Hinchliffe will be in touch with you; I know he is keen to work alongside the parents as well as the wider school community.
