Parkwood Launches South Yorkshire Police Partnership

There is now an exciting partnership between Parkwood Academy, South Yorkshire Police and charitable organisations such as, Street Doctors and the No Point Programme.

There has been a great deal of media coverage recently demonstrating the worrying trend in terms
of people carrying illegal weapons or materials that can endanger both themselves and others. This has been even more apparent in both young people and in South Yorkshire.

 

 

Parkwood students are responsible and sensible young people and whilst there is no problem or trend within the academy, we believe that not to educate the students on such dangers is a dereliction of our responsibility to raise awareness and safeguard them.

 

As part of this exciting initiative we are continuing with our amnesty: workshops and sessions with youth workers are in place and we are also moving to wave two of the partnership.

 

This includes staff working closely with the Police on how to ensure students are safe as well as the temporary introduction of security arches in the academy. These arches act in the same way as security measures in airports. These will be used on a number of dates over this half term.
