Biometrics
If you authorise and give consent, the Academy can take and use information from your child’s fingerprint as part of an automated biometric recognition system.
You will have received the consent form either as part of your child’s admission paperwork or in a digital form via text or email.
We use their fingerprint in a mathematical formula that enables them to purchase meals from the canteen, borrow books from the library and access printing. Please note, we do not retain or keep a record of any actual fingerprint – instead, this is converted into a mathematical number. It is vital that parents sign and return the consent form as soon as possible in order that their child can use the above facilities.
By signing the consent form, you authorise the Academy to use your child’s biometric information for the purposes described until he / she either leaves the Academy or ceases to use the system. If you wish to withdraw your consent at any time, this must be done so in writing and sent to Parkwood E-ACT Academy at the following address:

Once your child ceases to use the biometric recognition system, his / her biometric information will be securely deleted by the Academy as soon as practically possible.
If you do not provide consent we will not use your child’s biometric information. Your child will still have access to the same facilities and resources as other pupils if they do not participate in our biometric information system.
